Re: Will any of the top 6 have a wobble this season?
Credit to Emery for learning English but in his press conference he sounded like he was doing an impression of Christopher Walken!

I think Arsenal might struggle a bit as it's all going to be incredibly new there. Not convinced by Chelsea either with what's going on there and with Courtois off I am sure Hazard still has itchy feet. Spurs if they don't buy and get a couple of injuries could struggle a bit and as many have said Man United doesn't look a happy ship at the moment.

Swiss,

I firmly believe that Emery is Bruch Rioch MkII, he'll be sacked by Xmas.

Re: Will any of the top 6 have a wobble this season?
Firstly City, Liverpool and Man U will be in the top 4.

Spurs. New stadium will take getting used to. Heavily rely on Kane. Spurs have been lucky not to have injuries to key players last few seasons. Can see them fucking up this season.

Chelsea without Hazard (looks as if he's staying though) will find it tough and Sarri's teams have won fuck all.

Arsenal also new manager. Not that impressed with their transfer business either. Could be a major flop.

Could be a big opportunity for us. Not saying top 4 but 6 possibly. Our peer rivals I guess will be Everton and Leicester. I don't see much to scare me there.

Re: Will any of the top 6 have a wobble this season?
think it will be a city/lverpool 1-2 think united/chelsea/spuds will struggle-arsenal could go 1 way or the other-really think we can get into the top 6 if the new players gel.
We are 12/1 for a top 6 finish possibly worth having a few quid on.

fwiw, i think man u, spuds and chelsea will stutter. everton and leicester will do well imo.
as for us, anything above 10th with a good tickle in the cups will make me very happy, especially as we have a virtual new team which need to gel properly although allowing for the fact that we have such a good experienced premier league manager, i dont think we have too much to worry about.
no relegation fight this year for a welcome change.

in El Pel we trust. COYI !!!!!.

Re: Will any of the top 6 have a wobble this season?
I really don't think talking about a top six finish is getting carried away. This season could be a really good opportunity with our strengthening and everything else going on above us.

As others have said it could play out very similarly to 2015/16 where we finished 7th, within a whisker of top 6. In fact if it weren't for Leicester's freak season pushing everyone down a place we would have been 6th. We were above Liverpool and Chelsea and really should have been above Man U too.

Spurs with an unchanged squad will probably start strongly but their key players will inevitably show fatigue and they will stutter just as our team start to find their feet. I can't wait.

Mourinho will drag Man U down just as he did with Chelsea in the season mentioned above.

Chelsea themselves seem to be in some sort of transitional crisis, as do Arsenal.

We have every reason to be optimistic. As others have said it really is only Liverpool and Man City who are guaranteed to do better than us. Everything outside 1st and 2nd place is there for the taking!

My only slight concern is with team spirit. There could be a few established players worried about their place in the team with so many new names around. While we're all positive from the outside I don't really know how it looks from the inside.

Champions League and Europa games will add to the stress on the top 6, especially Man U, Spurs, Chelsea and Arsenal.

Chelsea won the Premiership two seasons ago playing 11 games less than 2nd place Spurs as had no European games at all.

With that in mind we could be a surprise Top 6 by end of season, Pellegrini knows that part of the table well so expect him to be plotting his advantages with fresher players, less injuries and fewer games all adding to the outcome...

My money is on a Top 6 place for WHUFC end of season..

Re: Will any of the top 6 have a wobble this season?
Man City & Liverpool are nailed on for 1st & 2nd

Man Utd seem to have trouble in their camp & Mourinho looks to be losing popularity by the minute

Chelsea seem a bit unstable & their new manager remains an unknown quantity. I think they're slipping!

Arsenal have a good new manager but it might take time to change things after the length of time Wenger was there

Spurs might suffer from a lot of their players being in the World Cup & several of their players could burn out (hopefully!)

So to sum up, the top 2 will be pretty much assured. The order of the next 4 might change around a bit, and one of them might slump to upper mid-table

As for us, I expect us to finish in the top ten, maybe after a slow start with all the new faces getting used to each other. Anything else would be a bonus

There's a lot of decent teams just outside last seasons top 6

Burnley, Leicester & Everton might do well

Re: Will any of the top 6 have a wobble this season?
Will any of last season's top six lose their place this season?

Last season 6th place, Arsenal, finished 9 points clear of Burnley in 7th place. So the gooners wobbled but no team sitting below was good enough to take advantage. Let's hope that a couple of teams from the pack below can achieve 60 point seasons, like when Southampton did and we nearly did several seasons ago.

I cannot see any team outside the present top six getting a sixty something point season.

Re: Will any of the top 6 have a wobble this season?
lot of unknowns this season.

City still the team to beat with Spurs & Liverpool in there too.
Jose seems to be imploding at Man Utd, his style of football means he isn't well liked.

Chelsea & Arsenal, who knows?? Chelsea have so many unanswered questions but do have a top quality manager.

Re: Will any of the top 6 have a wobble this season?
For me, Man City and Liverpool are bankers for 1 and 2. The other 4 are more vulnerable: Man Utd due to Mourinho's constant whining (does he really want the job?), Chelsea - iffy new manager and in decline, Arsenal ditto but maybe less in decline and Spurs, don't seem likely to strengthen and the new stadium factor. Reckon at least 1, maybe even 2 of these 4 will slip out of the top 6.

Re: Will any of the top 6 have a wobble this season?
I think it will take us a while to settle because we have a new team to gel and lots of players who won't give their best as a team until they get used to Prem football so we might have a patchy time to start.

I just hope we can give these players time, Diop is clearly a great talent but has never played anywhere else and will take time to settle. However I believe we have a clear, calm head as manager (as Moyes was to his credit, as we needed) which is what we need after the last two seasons

That said we should expect top ten and I'd be well happy with that, 8th would be a real achievement.

Lee Trundle 12:25 Mon Aug 6
Re: Will any of the top 6 have a wobble this season?
It'll be interesting to see how well they all start off.

Quite a few of their players are only coming back to training this week, so they're not going into this campaign as well as prepared as other teams like West Ham United, for example.

Man City, however, looked like their "second team" was raring to go albeit against a disinterested Chelsea second team.
